Half way!

I have been really slacking on updating this. Some crazy wonderful things have happened to distract me from my blogging duties. But I regret to say I have broken a part of my lent promise. I have drank alcohol! The temptation to drink and be merry with my friends was too great to resist. I have had fast food. But only once. And it was three in the morning waiting for my beautiful niece to arrive. I honestly didn’t think I would make it with any of my lent promises. But I still haven’t had any redbull (which I don’t think I mentioned before) or candy or any other real junk food (chips, oreos, twinkies etc). So my will power has a dual personality. On the one hand it has been resilient and consistent on the other hand its been as flaky as the weird uncle that sometimes shows up at thanksgiving. But I can say that I have done better than I thought I would and it really hasn’t been that hard other than a few temptations that were far and in between. I just have to tell the flaky part of my will power that its going to be fired!

End of week one

So, it’s been exactly one week since i’ve started my health kick for lent. I can honestly say its been pretty easy except for during the move. I still don’t have any dishes put up or cleaned so I have gone to mcdonalds for a grilled chicken snack wrap and a fruit salad just about every night for dinner. (Side note: their honey mustard tastes like onions blehh). I did resist the fries! But other than that it hasn’t been that hard. I do have a giant bowl of temptation on my desk (easter candy for my coworkers) but its filled with stuff I don’t really like (nerds, taffy, pretty much non chocolate stuff) I can already feel a difference in the way
I feel. It’s like I feel lighter even though I haven’t lost any weight or at least I don’t think I have. The scale is still in a box somewhere. This weekend will really be a test of my discipline though. Julies birthday = dinner and drinks. Itll be interesting going out to a bar and ordering a cuba libre hold the rum..

Fat Tuesday brings Lent beginnings

Ive decided to start a blog. Im not sure how long this will last but I can say the reason I am doing this is to document my trials during lent. I am giving up junk food, red bull, and alcohol. This is going to be a great testament to my self-discipline in which only two outcomes can be seen. 1. I either go utterly insane with cravings to the point of being driven into madness with no chance of return or 2. I adapt to the healthier life style and don’t even notice when Easter comes and goes thus hopefully adopting my healthier lifestyle for good.

I can say the greatest challenge will be cutting out the junk food, since I eat it every day. This (for me) includes cookies, candies, any fast food minus subway.. of course, and basically anything that will outlast me in terms of lifespan. I was thinking about cutting out diet sodas too but lets not get crazy. I will update this weekly to show my progress, which means if its been two weeks and I haven’t updated this blog then option 1 has happened and you should probably start searching for me in the fast food chains. Ill be the one huddled in the corner with a mound of burgers and fries surrounding me like a little fort. Wish me luck!
